Junior Isabelle Stadden was victorious in the 100 back at the Minnesota Invitational on Friday.

Stadden Wins 100 Back
Cal Has 14 Top-10 Finishes
MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 14 California women's swimming & diving team had 14 top-10 finishes on the third day of the Minnesota Invitational at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatics Center. The highlight of the day was junior
Isabelle Stadden's win in the 100 backstroke and the Bears' strong showing in the 400 medley relay.
After a blistering prelims, Stadden finished the finals with a time of 50.88 in the finals. Her time was good enough for an NCAA A qualifying standard. Sophomore
Reed Broaders finished ninth in the event with an NCAA B qualifying standard time of 53.85.
The Bears' "A" lineup in the 400 medley also qualified for the NCAA Championships in March with an NCAA A qualifying time of 3:30.96. The quartet of Stadden,
Jade Neser,
Mia Kragh, and
Eloise Riley finished just behind the winning relay from Texas. The Golden Bears' "B" lineup of
Ayla Spitz,
Alicia Henry,
Rachel Klinker, and
Emily Gantriis finished fifth with a time of 3:34.53.
In the 100 fly, the Bears had three top-10 finishers, including Kragh who finished second with a time of 51.80.
Lizzy Cook took seventh with a time of 52.87, and Klinker finished eighth with a time of 53.02. All three times were NCAA B qualifying standard times.
In the 400 IM Cal once again had three athletes finish in the top 10 and had three earn NCAA B qualifying times.
Leah Polonsky finished second with a time of 4:08.91.
Fanni Fabian took fourth, while
Sarah DiMeco took eighth, finishing with a time of 4:14.19 and 4:16.89 respectively.
Mia Motekaitis, Spitz, and Riley all finished in the top 5 in the 200 free. Motekaitis captured second with a time of 1:44.74. Spits finished just behind in third with a time of 1:45.06. Riley took fifth, finishing with a time of 1:46.52.
Neser and Henry took fourth and fifth respectively in the 100 breaststroke. Neser finished with a time of 1:00.43, Henry clocked in with a time of 1:00.61. Both times were NCAA B qualifying standard times.
The Bears will return to the pool for the final day of the Minnesota Invitational tomorrow morning with the prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT/8:00 a.m. pt. The finals begin at 4:00 p.m. PT.
