Ivey's 200 IM PR Leads Bears at Pac-12 Championships
Senior Goes 1:53.54 To Move Up To No. 5 In School History In the Event
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Senior
Isabel Ivey swam a lifetime-best 1:53.54 in the 200-yard individual medley and claimed second place in the event to pace Cal on day 2 of the Pac-12 Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday. Ivey's time moved her up to No. 5 on the Bears' all-time list.

Overall, Cal stands in third place through eight events with 486.5 points. Stanford leads with 648.5 points with USC second (545.5) and UCLA fourth (354).

The night began with the 500 free, and the Bears produced a 3-4-5 finish.
Ayla Spitz led the way with a season-best 4:40.89, followed by
Mia Motekaitis in a PR 4:41.31 and
Fanni Fabian in a PR 4:42.46.
Rachel Klinker also produced a season-best while taking third place in the B final in 4:43.53.

Cal had four swimmers in the A final of the 200 IM, and the Bears were led by a pair of PR efforts. Ivey's time shaved a third of a second off her previous best from 2019 and has her now ranked fifth in the country. Freshman
Leah Polonsky came in fourth with a time of 1:55.10 to rate 10th in school history in the event. In addition,
Alicia Wilson placed seventh and
Isabelle Stadden took eighth. Freshman
Annika McEnroe swam to a lifetime-best 1:58.11 in the B final for 11th-place overall, as well.

Emily Gantriis was Cal's top finisher in the 50 free, placing seventh in 22.39, but she wasn't the Bears' fastest in the session. In the B final,
Elise Garcia swam 22.24 for 10th overall, while
Eloise Riley covered the distance in a season-best 22.27 for 11th.
Emma Davidson was 14th in 22.48 after going a PR 22.39 in prelims.

The Bears closed out the session with a season-best performance in the 200 free relay, as the foursome of Riley, Garcia, Gantriis and Ivey took second in 1:27.84.

The Pac-12 Championships continue on Friday with a busy prelims session starting at 10:30 a.m. Swimmers will compete for spots in the finals in the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. The night session begins at 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on Pac-12.com and the Pac-12 Now app.
