BERKELEY – Senior Ana Costa teamed up with partner Maya Gessner to win on Senior Day, and the No. 13 Cal beach volleyball team defeated UC Davis 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Clark Kerr Sand Courts.

Costa and fellow seniors Ashley Delgado, Mima Mirkovic, Kate Bierly, Francesca Gettings and Katie Smoot were honored before the dual in a special ceremony, and the Bears (19-6) then went out and wrapped up a perfect weekend during their only home competitions of the season. Cal also defeated USF and No. 16 Long Beach State on Friday.

The Bears' No. 1 pair of Ainsley Radell and Ava Mann as well as their No. 4 pair of Ella Dreibholz and Lexi McKeown also recorded sweeps over the Aggies. Cal's No. 5 pair of Ella Sears and Natalie Martin won a three-set match, 16-21, 21-16, 18-16.

While the Bears' top two pairs won in sweeps, they were each pushed hard in the first set. Radell and Mann won 24-22, 21-12 while Costa and Gessner took their match, 24-22, 21-15.

Cal's No. 3 pair of Brooke Buchner and Delgado took their match to three sets before losing, 22-20, 19-21, 15-9.

Dreibholz and McKeown cruised to a 21-14, 21-9 win.

The Bears return to action next weekend at the Pac-12 North Invitational, where they will meet No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 USC, No. 8 Stanford and Utah.
