NOTEWORTHY
  • Cal hasn't won at Washington since Feb. 18, 2016 (78-75). The Bears are 0-5 in road games against the Huskies since that victory.
  • The Bears are limiting opponents to 27.8% shooting from 3-point range in nine games since the start of December. In three of those games, Cal held Arizona, Utah and Colorado – three of the Pac-12's top five 3FG% teams – to a combined 21.5% from deep. Cal is sixth in the Pac-12 and 83rd nationally in 3FG% defense (31.0%) on the season.
  • The Bears are averaging 12.3 assists per game in their past six games, 3.4 more than they averaged over the first 11 games of the season.
  • Graduate guard DeJuan Clayton's impact has been felt since his Cal debut on Dec. 29 as he's averaged 11.8 points and 3.5 assists per game. He owns a 5-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio in the past two games and scored a game-high 26 points (6-of-8 3PT) vs. Stanford on Jan. 6.
  • Senior forward Kuany Kuany is shooting 58% (15-of-26) while averaging 12.8 PPG and 5.0 RPG in the past five games.
  • Senior guard Joel Brown's versatility has been evident of late, as he's averaged 9.4 PPG, 3.8 RPG and 3.6 APG in the past eight games.
  • Cal is third in the Pac-12 in free-throw percentage (74.7%) with at least 12 makes in 10 of 17 games.
  • The Bears' most recent win – a 92-70 victory against Stanford on Jan. 6 – was highlighted by a school-record-tying 16 made 3-pointers on 72.7% shooting (16-of-22). The 72.7% clip was the best single-game percentage on record for a Pac-12 team when attempting at least 20 3-pointers.
  • Starting guard and leading scorer Devin Askew (16.1 PPG) has missed five of the past eight games, including three in a row, due to illness/injury. Askew is averaging 18.3 PPG in Pac-12 play and leads all NCAA Division I players in the largest improvement in PPG from the 2021-22 season (2.1 at Texas) to the 2022-23 season (16.1 at Cal).
  • Cal head coach Mark Fox was an assistant coach under Lynn Nance at Washington from 1991-93.
