TUCSON, Ariz. – A gutsy final rotation for the California women's gymnastics team (7-0, 1-0) granted the Bears their first Pac-12 win of the season over host Arizona (4-3, 0-1) Friday night.

Despite seeing its lowest score of the young season, while Arizona notched a season-high, the Bears managed to top the Wildcats 196.400-196.100. Cal swept the all-around podium with senior Nevaeh DeSouza (39.425) taking the title, followed by junior Andi Li (39.350) in second, and sophomore Mya Lauzon (39.300) in third.

Cal began the night on the uneven bars where the team got out to a hot start with a 49.425. Li and sophomore Maddie Williams tied for the event title notching a 9.950, which ties the third-highest score in program history. It was a career-high performance for Williams.

Next was vault, where the Bears suffered their first sub-49 score of the season with a 48.650. DeSouza came up big for her team tying for the title with a season-high tying 9.850 and Lauzon continued her success on the event tying for third with a 9.800. Their performances helped Cal take a narrow 98.075-97.625 lead into the third rotation.

The Bears faced more adversity on the floor routine scoring a 48.875 but saw solid outings by three of their final four participants. DeSouza, Li, and Lauzon each put up a 9.850 to tie for third in the event. That score matched a season high for DeSouza and it was enough to keep Cal ahead by 0.05 points heading into the final rotation of the night.

With their undefeated record on the line, the Bears came up clutch on the balance beam recording the fifth-highest score in program history with a 49.450 to seal the victory. DeSouza got her team off to a great start in the top spot of the lineup with a 9.850 and was followed by Williams who matched her career high with a 9.900. Then it was sophomore Ella Cesario's turn as she made her collegiate debut on beam and did so brilliantly with a 9.900. The final routine of the night went to junior Gabby Perea who closed the door by tying the second-highest score in program history with a 9.925 to win the event. Williams and Cesario would tie for second.

After opening the season with three-straight road trips, Cal will make its debut in Haas Pavilion next Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. when rival No. 19 Stanford comes to town. The meet marks Alumni Night and will feature a ring ceremony celebrating last year's Pac-12 Regular Season Title.
