BERKELEY – Junior Leah Polonsky was a triple-winner for the second dual meet in a row and freshman Kathryn Hazle won her first collegiate race as the No. 11 California women's swimming & diving team swam past Washington State 179-81 on Friday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

Polonsky captured the 200-yard individual medley (1:58.99) and the 200 breaststroke (2:13.07) for the second meet in a row while also taking the 200 freestyle (1:47.23). She's undefeated in dual meets so far this season. Polonsky won the Pac-12 championship in both the 200 IM and 400 IM last season.

Hazle, in just her third career competition at Cal, took the 1,000-yard freestyle event with a time of 10:01.57, outdistancing teammate Fanni Fabian, who came in second.

Fifth-year senior Mia Motekaitis was a double-winner for the Bears, capturing the 100 back (55.23) and 500 freestyle (4:53.20).

Cal won every race except one, and had at least the top two finishers in seven of the events. Hazle also finished second to Polonsky in the 200 IM.

The Bears return to competition next Friday for a dual meet at UC San Diego.
