BERKELEY – California track & field has released its schedule for the 2024 season under fifth year Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Robyne Johnson.
 
The Golden Bears will start off the indoor campaign at the New Mexico Team Open in Albuquerque, New Mexico, then split the squad between the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque and the Husky Classic in Seattle on Feb. 9-10. A return trip to Seattle will follow for the Ken Shannon Invitational on Feb. 23-24, closing out Cal's indoor regular season before the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9 in Boston.
 
Edwards Stadium will host the Cal Season Opener one week earlier on March 2 to kick off the outdoor season before the Bears head to the Hornet Invitational in Sacramento on March 15-16. Cal will then travel to San Diego for the Aztec Invitational on March 22-23, followed by another split-squad weekend in which the Blue & Gold will make appearances at three meets: the 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas (March 28-30), the Stanford Invitational in Stanford (March 29-30) and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco (March 29-30).
 
The month of April will feature a return to Edwards Stadium as the Bears host the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on April 6, then head to Walnut for the Mt. SAC Relays on April 17-20 before competing in the 129th Big Meet at Stanford on April 30. Cal's postseason begins with the Pac-12 Outdoor Championships in Boulder, Colorado, on May 10-12, followed by the NCAA West Regionals on May 23-26 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Bears will finish up team competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, held this year at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, from June 5-8.
 
Cal will also be hosting two all-comers meets at Edwards Stadium, currently scheduled for Feb. 3 and Feb. 17.
 
Last year, Cal sent two athletes to the NCAA Indoor Championships and a program-record 17 athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships after breaking a total of nine school records, earning eight All-American nods (Outdoor First Team: Anna Purchase, Mykolas Alekna and Jeff Duensing; Outdoor Second Team: Amari Turner, Audrey Jacobs, Carolina Visca and Ivar Moisander; Indoor Second Team: Hakim McMorris). All but McMorris and Purchase will return for the Bears in 2024, with Alekna hoping to build upon his unofficial U23 world discus record.
 
Three of Cal's NCAA qualifiers – Purchase, Alekna and Camryn Rogers – went on to represent their respective nations at the World Athletics Championships, with all three making the finals in their events. In the end, Rogers earned her first world title in the hammer throw, with Purchase finishing 11th in the same event and Alekna taking third in the discus.
