No. 7 Cal Picked Third In Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll
Bears Selected Among Top Three For Seventh Straight Year
BERKELEY - The No. 7 California women's gymnastics team was picked to finish third in the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll for the seventh consecutive year, the conference announced Friday.
The top half of this year's poll shook out to be nearly identical to last season's, as No. 4 Utah claimed the top spot with 46 points and five first-place votes and No. 6 UCLA placed second with 43 points and three remaining first-place votes. The Golden Bears followed in third with 43 points and No. 13 Oregon State placed fourth with 30 points. All four programs tied for the Pac-12 regular season title in 2023.
No. 19 Arizona State (22), No. 20 Stanford (19), No. 21 Washington (14) and No. 22 Arizona (10) rounded out the rest of the poll.
The Bears had one of their best seasons in school history in 2023, completely rewriting the record book on their way to their first NCAA Regional win and fifth NCAA Championships appearance. The 2024 season begins in early January when Cal heads to Las Vegas for the Super 16. More details on that meet will become public in the coming weeks.
This will be Cal's final season in the Pac-12 before joining the ACC in 2025.
