STANFORD – Junior Isabelle Stadden completed an undefeated regular season in the backstroke and fellow junior Jade Neser captured the 100-yard breaststroke, but the No. 12 Cal women's swimming & diving team fell to No. 3 Stanford 161-101 on Saturday afternoon at Avery Aquatic Center.

Stadden, who holds top-five times nationally in both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke, hasn't lost a race all season in either of those events. She won the 100 back Saturday in a time of 51.84 and the 200 back in 1:54.69.

Stadden should be one of the favorites in both backstroke races at the Pac-12 Championships later this month.

Neser had an impressive race in the 100 breaststroke, winning by over a second in a time of 1:01.16.

Sophomore Fanni Fabian registered Cal's fastest time in the 1,000 freestyle event this season, coming in third with a mark of 9:57.22.

Cal began the meet strong with a victory in the 200 medley relay, as Stadden (back), Neser (breast), sophomore Mia Kragh (butterfly) and sophomore McKenna Stone (free) clocked in a time of 1:37.02. That was three-and-a-half seconds faster than the Bears' team of sophomore Annika McEnroe (back), sophomore Leah Polonsky (breast), junior Emily Gantriis (fly) and sophomore Ella Mazurek (free), who came in second.

The Bears are now off until the 2023 Pac-12 Championships, which take place Feb. 22-25 in Federal Way, Wash.
