  • Newell and fellow freshman ND Okafor combined for 20 points on 9-of-18 shooting on Thursday at USC. Okafor scored a career-high 11 points in the contest and is shooting 53.5% (30 of 56) from the floor in the past 14 games.

  • Joel Brown has continued to do the heavy lifting at the point guard position, playing a team-leading 31.8 minutes per game. He dished out 14 assists to just six turnovers in Cal's past three games and has averaged 6.9 PPG since Dec. 7 (4.3 PPG in the previous nine games to start the season).
