SAN FRANCISCO – California graduate student Lucas Henveaux was named the Pac-12 Men's Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
Henveaux, a native of Liège, Belgium, set program and Spieker Aquatics Complex records in the 1,000-yard freestyle and took second in the 500 free while helping the No. 2 Golden Bears defeat No. 10 Stanford in a dual meet on Feb. 18. Henveaux blasted the field in the 1,000 free with a time of 8:45.39, which currently ranks as the third-fastest time in the nation in the event. The previous program record of 8:46.45 was set by Nick Norman in 2019, and the previous pool record at Spieker Aquatics Complex was set by Zach Yeadon in 2021 with a time of 8:49.88.
 
Later in that same meet, Henveaux finished second in the 500 free with a time of 4:17.01, an NCAA B qualifying time.
 
Henveaux and the Bears will turn their attention to the Pac-12 Championships which begin Wednesday, March 1 at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
