NOTEWORTHY
  • Joel Brown stuffed the box score against Washington State last Saturday with 13 points, a career-high nine assists and seven rebounds in 39 minutes. The senior guard had tallied nine assists once prior in his collegiate career against USC on Jan. 6, 2022. The durable Brown is averaging 6.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists in a team-leading 32.2 minutes per game this season.
  • Cal was without senior center Lars Thiemann (injury) against the Cougars on Feb. 25. It was the first game of the season missed by Thiemann, who is averaging career highs of 9.6 PPG and 5.6 RPG, this season. The big man has missed just two games in his college career.
  • Freshman ND Okafor earned his first career start against Washington State in place of Thiemann. His first career double-figure scoring game came when he scored 10 points at home against Oregon on Jan. 18.
  • Fellow freshman Grant Newell continues to play a key role for the Bears down the stretch. He's averaging 10.0 PPG in the past five games and is the first Cal freshman with multiple double-doubles in a single season since Ivan Rabb and Jaylen Brown did so in 2015-16.
  • Kuany Kuany narrowly missed a double-double against Washington State, pulling down a career-high nine rebounds along with 11 points. Kuany is averaging 10.2 PPG and 4.8 RPG in the past 17 contests and has recorded 10 of his 16 double-figure scoring efforts during that span.
  • Monty Bowser has scored 10-plus points in three of the past five games. It's the first three double-figure scoring performances of his career.
  • Oregon bested Cal 87-58 in the first meeting of the season between the two programs on Jan. 18 in Berkeley.
  • The Bears ended a nine-game losing streak to Oregon in their last visit to Eugene on Feb. 12, 2022. Cal used a 24-0 first-half run and a career-high 33 points scored by Jordan Shepherd to earn a 78-64 victory, which clinched its first road sweep of the Oregon schools since 2014.
  • The last time Cal won back-to-back games in Eugene was on Feb. 21, 2013 (48-46 win) and Jan. 9, 2014 (96-83 win).
  • Head coaches Mark Fox and Dana Altman are both Eastern New Mexico alumni. Fox ('91) graduated 11 years after Altman.
