KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Cal women's swimming & diving team scored points in every event except one Friday night and stands in 11th place heading into the final day of the 2023 NCAA Championships at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

Junior Isabelle Stadden qualified for the finals of the 100-yard backstroke, where she finished sixth with a time of 51.03. Stadden was the runner-up in the event at the Pac-12 Championships and went undefeated in the 100 back during the regular season.Ā 

Cal had three other swimmers advance to the consolation finals in their respective events. Sophomore Leah Polonsky placed 14th in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:07.49, sophomore Mia Kragh was 15th in the 100 butterfly at 51.58 and senior Mia Motekaitis finished 16th in the 200 freestyle with a mark of 1:44.69.

Polonsky won the Pac-12 title in both the 200 IM and 400 IM this season.

The Bears' 400 medley relay team of Stadden, junior Jade Neser, Kragh and senior Emma Davidson placed 11th and two spots above their seeding with a season-best time of 3:29.96.

Saturday's final day of the 2023 NCAA Championships features the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 free relay. Stadden is the No. 2 seed in the 200 back while senior Rachel Klinker is seeded eighth in the 200 butterfly.
