Seeliger, Hawk Named Academic All-Americans

Cal Duo Joins 35 Student-Athletes On Inaugural All-Academic Men’s Swimming & Diving Team

AUSTIN, Texas – California standout swimmers Björn Seeliger and Dylan Hawk were named to the inaugural Academic All-America® men's swimming and diving teams, as selected by the College Sports Communicators.
 
Seeliger earned first-team honors, while Hawk picked up a third-team recognition. They become the seventh and eighth CSC Academic All-Americans in program history, joining current teammate Reece Whitley (2022) and past winners Bengt Baron (1985), Nathan Adrian (2010-11), Ryan Murphy (2015-17), Pawel Sendyk (2020) and Nate Biondi (2021).
 
The duo was among 35 decorated student-athletes across the country voted onto the CSC Academic All-America® Division I men's first, second and third teams. The full list of the 2023 men's swimming & diving teams can be viewed at CollegeSportsCummunicators.com.
 
Seeliger, a native of Södertälje, Sweden, is an economics major with a 3.76 cumulative grade point average. A Tokyo Olympian and three-time NCAA champion, Seeliger will look to add to his impressive haul of national awards this weekend when he competes for a national championship in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 backstroke.
 
Hawk, a Las Gatos resident, previously earned a CSCAA Academic All-America honorable mention in 2021. Hawk will join Seeliger this weekend in Minneapolis for the NCAA Men's Championships where he will be competing in the 200 free.
