PHOENIX – Junior Cristina Ochoa carded her best round of the spring season and the Cal women's golf team is part of a logjam in the middle of the pack after the first round of the PING/ASU Invitational at Papago Golf Course.

Ochoa is in a tie for sixth place individually after shooting a 2-under par 70 on the 6,543-yard course. She registered five birdies with three bogeys to record her best round since carding a 6-under par in the first round of the Pac-12 Preview in November.

Cal is tied for sixth in the team standings with five other teams at 7-over par. Northwestern leads the 17-team field at 6-under par.

Graduate student Annika Borrelli stands at 2-over par and in a tie for 32^nd place among the 90 individuals competing. Sophomore Kaylyn Noh is in a tie for 39^th at 3-over par.

The Bears resume play in the tournament Saturday in the second round. They tee off at 8 a.m. PT.
