BERKELEY – The California men's rowing team will be making its return to the annual San Diego Crew Classic for the first time since the 2019 season this weekend. The event is highly regarded as the inaugural race of the rowing season and features many of the top teams from around the country. The event will take place at the Fiesta Bay-Crown Point Shores in San Diego. The Golden Bears will be sending their V8+, 2V8+, 3V8+ and Freshman 8+ crews to the regatta.

In 2019, Cal had a successful outing with each of its boats finishing in the top two spots of its respective final. The Freshman 8+ won the Novice Derek Guelker Memorial Cup while the 3V8+ crew won the Open Final along with the 3V8 Final. The V8+ took second place in the Copley Cup Invitational Final and the 2V8+ took second in the Sharp Memorial Cup Final.
