Team’s Second Straight Year With Double-Digit Honorees

SEATTLE – California men's gymnastics has earned 11 spots on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference yesterday. This marks the second straight year that a double-digit number of Golden Bears has landed on the All-Academic Team. To qualify, athletes must have at least a 3.00 GPA, be an academic sophomore or above, and have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's meets this year.

For seniors Will Lavanakul and Noah Sano, this will be their third MPSF All-Academic honor. Juniors Aidan Li, Noah Newfeld, Seth Ornelas, David Rauchwerger, Chris Scales and Jelani Sweet earn their second All-Academic conference nods, while sophomore Tyler Shimizu and competitive freshmen Theodor Gadderud and Jasper Smith-Gordon notch their first.

The Bears start competition at the NCAA Championships tomorrow as part of Session Two. The first rotation is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT.
