STOCKTON – The No. 5 California women's water polo team got back to its winning ways on Sunday defeating No. 12 Pacific 14-6 on the road.

The game was never in question for the Golden Bears (16-6), who allowed the Tigers (18-7) to score just two goals through three quarters. Pacific's six goals were tied for its second-lowest total this year.

Rozanne Voorvelt led Cal with three goals for the second hat trick of her sophomore season. Junior Ruby Swadling and seniors Cecily Turner and Shea Salvino finished with two goals apiece. Senior goalkeeper Isabel Williams finished with 10 saves in three quarters of action, becoming the sixth Bear in program history to surpass the 500 career save milestone.

Swadling was the first to score for either side, getting Cal on the board just over three minutes into the action. Freshman Abbi Magee doubled the Bears' lead two possessions later.

After Pacific got one back, Voorvelt scored her first of the day, fending off a Tiger defender and sending in a sweet backhanded shot from a few meters out to put the Bears back up two.

Several minutes into the second period, Voorvelt lasered one in from the outside and Salvino snuck a shot past the defense late in the shot clock that barely crawled over the goal line to make it 5-1. Swadling capped the half with a goal in the final seconds to send Cal into the break leading 6-2.

Coming out of halftime, the Bears took their play up a notch, dominating a third quarter in which they outscored the home side 5-0. Consecutive goals from juniors Maryn Dempsey and Maddie DeMattia and another outside strike from Voorvelt extended the lead to 9-2.

In the final minutes of the quarter, Salvino secured her brace and Turner scored a physical goal inside to send Cal into the final frame leading 11-2. The Bears were able to cruise from there, taking the starters out and giving more valuable playing time to the bench down the stretch. Junior Mara Loughlin and freshman Millie Quin scored Cal's final two goals of the day.

Following three straight nonconference outings, Cal resumes MPSF play for the final three weeks of the regular season, starting Saturday, Apr. 8 at No. 20 San Jose State.
