Bears Travel To Face Ducks, Tigers
BERKELEY – The No. 37 California women's tennis team (7-7, 4-2 Pac-12) heads north to play at No. 43 Oregon (11-5, 4-2) on Sunday at 11 a.m. PDT and then plays a nonconference match at Pacific (6-6) on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Stockton, California.

The contest with Pacific was recently added to the schedule, after Cal's match at No. 4 Pepperdine – originally slated for Friday – was canceled. The home-and-away series between the Golden Bears and the Waves will resume in 2024.

Cal improved five spots to No. 37 in this week's ITA team poll. In this week's ITA singles poll,
Jessica Alsola – who has won 14 straight matches – is ranked 43rd. The duo of Alsola and
Katja Wiersholm (16-9) jumped 11 spots to No. 4 in the doubles rankings.

Bears Take Two Out Of Three At Home
In its most recent action, Cal won two out of three matches at the Hellman Tennis Complex, beating Pac-12 Conference opponents Arizona State and Arizona and then falling to Loyola Marymount in a nonconference match.

No. 26 ASU on March 31,
Hannah Viller Moeller defeated Rachel Hanford, 6-2, 6-2, to clinch her fourth Cal victory and the pair of
Katja Wiersholm and
Jessica Alsola clinched the doubles point – beating 18th-ranked Patricija Spaka and Domenika Turkovic, 6-2 – in the Bears' commanding 6-1 win.

On April 1,
Valentina Ivanov earned her first clinching win of the season when she beat Lexi Ryngler, 6-2, 6-3, in
Cal's 7-0 rout of the 44th-ranked Wildcats. Also, Cal's
Erin Richardson and
Berta Passola Folch knocked off Midori Castillo Meza and Belen Nevenhoven, 6-3, to secure the doubles point.

4-3 loss to No. 62 LMU on April 2, Cal's
Jessica Alsola captured her 14th consecutive victory with a 6-3, 6-4 result over the Lions' Stefania Rogozinska-Dzik.

Scouting the Bears
- With a 4-2 conference record, Cal is in a three-way tie for third place with Oregon and USC in the Pac-12 standings
- Cal – which went 8-1 in the conference in the 2021-22 season – is the defending Pac-12 regular-season champion
- The Bears also won the Pac-12 Championship crown in the 2020-21 season
- The Bears have a 30-0 record in the all-time series with Oregon, including a 5-2 win over the Ducks in 2022
- Cal also holds a 30-0 advantage in the all-time series with Pacific, including a 7-0 rout of the Tigers in 2021
- Hannah Viller Moeller clinched Cal's first three victories this season, including the 6-1 win over UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 21, the 4-1 win over Princeton in the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 27and the 5-1 result over SDSU on Feb. 24
- Haley Giavara ended fall 2022 in France, where the Cal senior and Team USA won the Master'U BNP Paribas Championship, with Cal head coach Amanda Augustus on the U.S. staff
- Sophomores Jessica Alsola and Katja Wiersholm were outstanding in the fall, as the duo won the ITA Northwest Regional Championships and reached the consolation doubles final at the ITA National Fall Championships
- Alsola, Wiersholm and Viller Moeller reached the singles quarterfinals at ITA regionals
- Also last fall, Alsola won the consolation singles title at the ITA All-American Championships, beating USD's Solymar Colling in the final, 6-2, 6-3
- Former two-time NCAA doubles champion Amanda Augustus – the 2021 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and five-time ITA Northwest Region Coach of the Year (including in 2021-22) – is in her 16th year as head coach at her alma mater
- Associate head coach Zack Warren – the 2022 ITA Northwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year, who has collected four regional awards overall – is in his ninth year on the staff
- Sean Hill is in his first year as Cal's volunteer assistant coach, after playing as a graduate student for the Cal men's tennis team in 2022
Scouting the Ducks
- Prior to the Cal-Oregon tilt on Sunday, the Ducks host Stanford on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
- Oregon split its previous two matches – winning 5-2 at Washington State on March 31 and losing at No. 18 Washington, 4-0, on April 2
- The Ducks have won the doubles point in each of their 11 overall victories this season
- Courtney Nagle is in her fifth season as Oregon's head coach
Scouting the Tigers
- Before hosting Cal on Tuesday, Pacific hosts Cal Poly on Friday at 1 p.m. and plays at Saint Mary's on Saturday at 11 a.m.
- Prior to their Cal Poly match, the Tigers had lost two straight at home – 4-0 to Pepperdine on March 31 and 4-0 to LMU on April 1
- The duo of Klara Kosan and Karina Chao – the current WCC Doubles Team of the Week – is ranked 32nd in the latest ITA poll
- Mike Erwin is in his fifth season as head coach of Pacific
