Cal head coach
Scott Frandsen believes the Golden Bears have done well balancing preparing for final exams while getting ready for the races Sunday.
"The team is in a good spot," Frandsen said. "This is always a challenging stretch for us with exams and all that, but we're nearly through all that, and I know we always feel a good recovery and a bounce of energy as we as we get into the weekend. I'm happy with where everything has been with all that considered and I'm expecting over the next couple of days that all the crews will really start to find their groove."
While the Bears have had high expectations since before the season began and have been the top-ranked team in the country all year, Frandsen is not worried about a letdown performance and believes the team is ready to meet the challenge.
"It comes down to the focus of the guys and the build of the season," Frandsen said. "All along the guys have known that everything's been building towards the Pac-12s and the IRAs, so I don't feel like I need to really build them up. They know that this is what we've been working towards and I think emotionally they've all been building towards it as well. I expect to see them fully prepared mentally this weekend, and that's what we've been talking about and building towards since August."
