INDIANAPOLIS – The Cal men's swimming & diving program registered a national title for the third night in a row as rising senior Dare Rose captured the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 50.75 at the Phillips 66 National Championships at the IU Natatorium.

With the win, Rose earned his first career berth at the FINA World Championships to be held next month in Fukuoka, Japan.

After narrowly missing out on the 50-meter butterfly title with a runner-up finish on Wednesday, Rose dominated the 100 fly event Thursday by posting the fastest qualifying time in the morning followed by a definitive victory in the finals.

Rose's championship follows rising junior Jack Alexy's title in the 100-meter freestyle on Tuesday before alum and two-time Olympian Ryan Murphy won the 200 backstroke on Wednesday.

Rose was one of three Golden Bears to qualify for the A-final in the 100 butterfly – rising junior Gabriel Jett tied for fifth and alum Trenton Julian placed seventh.

Alum Sean Grieshop placed eighth in the 400 individual medley.

On the women's side, rising senior Isabelle Stadden placed fifth in the 50 backstroke after qualifying third during the morning prelims. It marked Stadden's second consecutive top 6 finish in a backstroke event after placing sixth in the 200 back on Wednesday. She will also race in the 100 back on Friday.

Along with the 100 back, the 400 freestyle and 100 breaststroke will take place on Friday.
