For the third time in four years the California beach volleyball team has earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, as announced by the AVCA Thursday afternoon.
 
The award is given to volleyball teams from high school to the collegiate level that maintain a yearlong grade-point average of 3.3 or better, and this year a record 1,333 programs earned the honor.
 
The Golden Bears accumulated a team GPA of 3.521 during the 2022-23 academic year and had six individuals named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll. They have now earned the honor three times since the program was created 10 years ago.
