BERKELEY – A pair of incoming freshmen on the California women's rowing team will compete in this week's U19 World Rowing Championships that are set to take place in Paris Thursday through Sunday. The regatta – which will welcome more than 615 athletes representing 53 countries across 14 boat classes – was originally set to begin Wednesday, but was postponed a day due to adverse weather conditions.

Live streaming will be available on Saturday and Sunday on www.worldrowing.com.

Ella Wheeler, who attended Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts, will race for the United States in the women's coxed four. Her previous international experience includes winning gold for the U.S. in the women's coxed four at the 2022 U19 World Championships in Varese, Italy. Worldrowing.com included Wheeler and the U.S. among the boats to watch this week.

Julia Irmler will race for her native Germany in the women's double sculls. Although this marks Irmler's first experience at the U19 World Championships, she is a rising junior athlete in Germany having recently won the 2022 German Indoor Championships in the U19 category, a full eight seconds over the next closest competitor.

Complete results for all the heats and finals can be found out www.worldrowing.com.
