JERUSALEM – As expected of one of California track & field's top throwers, rising sophomore Audrey Jacobs put on a show in the qualifying round of the European Athletics U20 Championships on Monday morning by clinching a spot in the hammer throw final with a group-best 63.35m (207-10).
 
Jacobs' throw ranked second overall in the field; only Cyprus' Valentina Savva (from the other qualifying group) threw farther, posting a mark of 64.48m (211-6) to establish herself as Jacobs' primary competition in the next round.
 
The final field of 12 will compete for a spot on the podium Tuesday at 6:52 a.m. PT.
