STOCKTON – Kuangyu (Tony) Chen carded a season-low 66 and was one of five California men's golfers to shoot under par in the second round of the Pacific Invitational at Stockton Country Club. Cal climbed two spots into third place with a 10-under-par 274 on Tuesday and will enter the tournament's final round 10 shots off the lead.

Pacific – which finished as runner-up at the Cal-hosted Alister MacKenzie Invitational last week – sits atop the leaderboard at 23-under-par following a 14-under 270 on Tuesday. San Diego (-21) is in second place while Grand Canyon (-10), Washington State (-4) and California Baptist (-4) rounded out the top five after 36 holes.

Chen rocketed 26 spots up the individual leaderboard into a tie for sixth and will tee off Tuesday just three strokes behind clubhouse leader Travis Robbie of Pacific. The redshirt senior, who shot an even-par 71 on Monday, was 1-over-par for the second round through his first nine holes reeling off five consecutive birdies on holes 10-14. He added a sixth back-nine birdie on 17 to move to 5-under-par for the tournament.

Daniel Heo (-3) shot under par for the seventh time in eight rounds this fall with a 2-under-par 69 and jumped into a tie for 16th. All five Bears in the lineup are inside the top 34 after two rounds, including Ziqin (Eric) Zhou (T21, -2), Wenliang Xie (T28, -1) and Matthew Miyamoto (T34, E). Xie was one of three Bears to card a 69 on Tuesday as he birdied three straight holes – 15, 16, 17 – to finish strong.

Papon Sawatyanon (-4), playing as Cal's lone individual, shot 69 on Tuesday for his fifth consecutive under-par round dating back to the start of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational last week. The senior is tied for 11th through 36 holes and currently stands as the top individual player in the 92-man field.
