Bears Announce 2025 Schedule

Cal Opens Season At Fresno State Polo-Palooza On Jan. 18

BERKELEY – The California women's water polo team released its 2025 schedule on Friday, announcing a slate that includes four regular-season tournaments and 10 games against opponents that ended last season with top-20 rankings in the final CWPA national poll.

Coming off a year in which they advanced to the NCAA Championship final for the first time since 2011, the Golden Bears will begin the season with three straight tournaments, starting with Fresno State's Polo-Palooza on Jan. 18-19. Following that event, they will host the annual Cal Invitational at Spieker Aquatics Complex on Jan. 25-26.

After a week off, Cal will travel to the Aggie Invite for a doubleheader with Pacific and San Jose State on Feb. 8. The Aggies will make the trip to Berkeley for a single game on Feb. 15.

The Bears will be at the Barbara Kalbus Invite in Irvine from Feb. 21-23 for their final competitions prior to the start of MPSF play.

In March, Cal will hit the road for its first two conference games, playing at San Jose State on Mar. 1 and UCLA on Mar. 8 before hosting USC in its MPSF home opener on Mar. 22. The Bears will later host three straight games to end the regular season against Arizona State (Apr. 5), UC Irvine (Apr. 13), and Stanford (Apr. 18) on Senior Day.

The MPSF Tournament will be hosted by UCLA from Apr. 25-27. The NCAA Championships will take place on May 9-11 in Indianapolis.

Boasting five ACWPC All-Americans and the nation's top defense in 2024, the Bears made history on their way to a national runner-up finish, led by Cutino Award-winning goalkeeper Isabel Williams. Cal retains two of its 2024 All-Americans in Elena Flynn and Rozanne Voorvelt, while also bringing back two-time All-American Ruby Swadling for her final season with the team after taking a year off to train with the Australian National Team.

Cal returns six of its top nine goal scorers from last season, including standout freshmen Feline Voordouw (31 goals) and Julia Bonaguidi (14). On Nov. 25, Bonaguidi and freshman Rosalie Hassett became the first Bears to win the gold medal at the Pan-American Games since Heather Petri and Elsie Windes in 2011. Bonaguidi finished the tournament with seven goals in six games, highlighted by a four-goal effort in USA's win over Colombia. Hassett struck six times, notching a hat trick in a win over Brazil.
