For the third year in a row, California men's gymnast Noah Newfeld will appear at the USA Gymnastics Winter Cup, where he will compete for a spot on the Senior National Team this weekend. Held at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky, the senior men's competition will take place Friday (10:30 a.m. PT) and Sunday (2:30 p.m.).

Newfeld qualified for this year's Winter Cup on Jan. 27 at the Stanford Open, where he finished with a personal-best 81.400 on all-around. This season has also seen him set program top 10s on pommel horse (4th, 14.250) and parallel bars (7th, 14.300).

Gymnasts must place within the top-35 on Friday's session to move on to Sunday's competition; after those two sessions, the selection of the national team will consist of the top-five all-around gymnasts, the next top-five in total points and two additional event winners. Newfeld finished 17th at the 2023 Winter Cup and 22nd in 2022; should he qualify, it would be his first appearance on the national roster.
