The Bears continued a couple of recent trends in their Saturday opener against the Bulldogs (12-4), holding their third straight opponent under six goals. It was also the third consecutive game that Cal scored the first three goals of the game.

Senior Maryn Dempsey scored a game-high two goals, continuing her run as the only Bear to score in every contest so far. Redshirt sophomore Claire Rowell led all players with three assists.

Mallory Reynoso, Elena Flynn and Jessie Rose put away the first goals of the game to put Cal up 3-0 less than five minutes in. The lead never dropped below two goals again.

Senior Maddie DeMattia made it 4-1 on a power play early in the second. The Bears embarked on another 3-0 run capped by Dempsey's first score of the day in the opening minute of the third, giving them a commanding 7-2 advantage. Freshman Julianne Snyder and Dempsey added back-to-back goals to give Cal its largest lead, 9-3, midway through the period.

While the offense didn't score again, the Bears' defense did its job, allowing just two goals over the final 13:52 of the game. Cal ended the game having held its opponent to one goal in seven of its last eight quarters. Senior goalkeeper Isabel Williams finished with 14 saves.
