INSIDE THE MATCHUP
  • Home-court advantage has reigned supreme in the Cal-Colorado series. Cal is 2-14 all-time against the Buffs in Boulder compared to 16-3 when playing in Berkeley.
  • The Golden Bears have lost six straight at the CU Events Center, with their most recent road win coming on Feb. 12, 2015 (68-61).
  • Colorado is 14-1 at home this season.
  • Cal recorded its largest come-from-behind victory in nearly 15 years on Jan. 10 when it erased a 20-point first-half deficit to defeat Colorado 82-78 in Berkeley. It marked Cal's biggest comeback since Feb. 14, 2009, when it trailed by 22 in the first half of an eventual 82-75 home win vs. Stanford.
  • Cal's Jaylon Tyson (20.1 points per game) and Colorado's KJ Simpson (19.6 PPG) are the Pac-12's second- and third-leading scorers this season. Tyson set a career high with 30 points in the two teams' first meeting of the season.
LAST TIME
  • Jaylon Tyson and Jalen Cone combined for 42 points and zero turnovers in a 69-64 win over Oregon last Saturday in Berkeley.
  • The win sealed Cal's first home sweep of the Oregon schools since the 2015-16 season.
  • Cone hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put Cal in front for good, 46-44, with 11:23 left. The Bears trailed 34-30 at halftime.
  • Oregon cut its deficit to 60-59 after Jermaine Couisnard hit two free throws with 2:38 left, but Cone answered with a 3 and Fardaws Aimaq pushed the lead to 65-60 with a layup with under a minute left.
  • Tyson finished 11 of 23 from the field to lead Cal with 27 points and added seven rebounds and a pair of blocks.
  • Cone added 15 points and Aimaq pulled down 14 rebounds to go with eight points.
NOTEWORTHY
  • Cal's current three-game win streak is its longest in conference play since winning the final three games of the 2018-19 regular season.
  • Cal finished 10-6 at home this season, winning in six of its final eight games inside Haas Pavilion. It's Cal's first winning home slate since 2019-20.
  • The Bears' nine conference wins are their most since 2016-17 (10).
  • 21 of Cal's 28 games have been decided by single digits, the most nationally. Cal has won six of its last seven such games after winning only four of its first 14.
  • Cal is 9-3 when holding opponents to fewer than 75 points. The Bears have allowed 69.7 PPG in 13 wins versus 81.1 PPG in 15 losses.
  • The Bears have scored 80-plus points in seven conference games this season, tied for their most since doing the same in 2010-11.
  • Jaylon Tyson's 27 points against Oregon marked the 16th time this season he's scored 20-plus. It's the most 20-point games by a Golden Bear in a single season since Jerome Randle's 17 in 2009-10.
  • Tyson is the only major-conference player and one of four players nationally averaging at least 20.0 points (20.1 PPG), 7.0 rebounds (7.0 RPG) and 3.0 assists (3.3 APG) per game this season. He's one of 10 players shortlisted for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award.
  • Fardaws Aimaq leads the Pac-12 and ranks fifth nationally with 11.3 RPG. He's on pace to become just the sixth Golden Bear to average 11.0 RPG in a season and the first since Mark McNamara in 1981-82. Aimaq's 317 total rebounds this season are already the eighth most in program single-season history and are 65 shy of tying Ansley Truitt's record of 382 in 1971-72.
  • Aimaq is one of five major-conference players averaging a double-double this season. Of those five players, Aimaq is one of two averaging at least 14.7 PPG and 11.3 RPG, joining Purdue's Zach Edey, the reigning consensus National Player of the Year. Aimaq has 18 double-doubles this season – the most by a Golden Bear in the Pac-12 era – and is two shy of tying the program single-season record, shared by McNamara (1981-82) and Truitt (1971-72).
  • Jalen Cone has averaged 17.0 PPG on 47.2% (26 of 55) shooting from the floor and 45% shooting from 3-point range (18 of 40) in Cal's past five wins compared to just 3.6. PPG on 18.1% shooting in its previous three losses. The sharpshooter played a critical role in both of Cal's come-from-behind victories this past week, scoring 30 of his 32 total points in the second halves against Oregon State and Oregon.
  • Cal has made at least 10 3-pointers in 10 games this season, including a program single-game record-tying 16 against Oregon State last Thursday. The Bears are second in the Pac-12 with 8.8 3-point makes per game and rank first in attempts (25.6).
  • Jalen Celestine's 45.3% clip from 3-point range is tied for second among qualified Pac-12 players and would rank in a tie for eighth in Cal's single-season records. The lefty is 39 of 86 from deep and has made multiple 3-pointers in 13 games, including six of the past eight.
  • Keonte Kennedy, Cal's top defender, is fifth in the Pac-12 with 1.6 steals per game, having swiped the rock at least once in 13 of the past 15 games, including 10 total steals in a three-game span from Jan. 26-Feb. 3. He's played a well-rounded role during Cal's current three-game win streak, averaging 10.3 PPG on 50% shooting (60% from 3) and 6.0 RPG to go along with a three-assist effort against Oregon.
