BERKELEY – The No. 3 California women's gymnastics team fell just short of matching its all-time best team score it set last week but still rolled to a nonconference victory in a tri-meet with San Jose State and UC Davis on Friday night at Haas Pavilion.

The Golden Bears registered an all-around mark of 198.500 – just off the 198.550 they recorded last Sunday in a victory at Stanford. San Jose State placed second at 196.650 and UC Davis was third with a 184.900.

Sophomore eMjae Frazier and junior Mya Lauzon – each of whom rank among the nation's top 10 individually in all-around – tied for the all-around title Friday night with a 39.725.

Freshman Kyen Mayhew got the meet off to a spectacular start by winning the vault competition with a career-high score of 9.975. The Bears then put on a sizzling performance on uneven bars, matching last week's score of 49.700 that is tied for the third-highest mark in that event in program history. Senior Andi Li and junior Maddie Williams tied for the individual win with a 9.975 – it marked the third time this season Williams has notched that score on uneven bars; she entered the night tied for 4th in the country in the event.

Senior Gabby Perea chalked up her first victory of the season on balance beam with a 9.975 while Frazier, Lauzon and Williams were part of a four-way tie for the victory on the floor exercise. Cal registered a 49.700 team score on floor, which is tied for the second-best mark in that event in program history.

The Bears have now reached the 198.000 mark as a team in three consecutive meets. Only nine teams in the country have reached that score at least once this season.

Cal closes out the regular season Sunday afternoon with another nonconference tri-meet, this time against No. 25 Stanford and Sacramento State. First rotation is set for 2 p.m. The Bears will honor Li, Perea and fellow seniors Elise Byun and Kennedy Quay in a special Senior Day ceremony after the meet.
