LAST TIME OUT
Last week the divers put on a show at Weyerhaeuser. Sophomore Joshua Thai advanced to the finals in all three events and placed third in the platform with a program-record score of 317.70 in the prelims. In the finals, he finished with a score of 351.00. Conrad Eck and Jack Clark also had strong showings in their first appearance in the conference championships. Eck advanced to the finals in the platform dive, while Clark advanced to the finals in the 3-meter dive and the platform dive.

TYR PRO CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Bears will be without five of their top swimmers this weekend, as Jack Alexy, Gabriel Jett, Destin Lasco, Dare Rose and Bjorn Seeliger will head to Westmont, Illinois, to compete in the TYR Pro Championship event March 6-9. The event is a long-course race that will help the five Bears get ready for the upcoming Olympic Trials. The Bears have done this before, when Ryan Murphy, Josh Prenot, Jacob Pebley and Jeremie DeZwirk competed in a Pro Swim Series meet in Orlando, Florida, instead of the Pac-12 Championships. That summer, Murphy went on to win three gold medals and set two Olympic records while Prenot won silver in the 200 breast.

PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
The Bears saw their run of five-consecutive Pac-12 Championships end when Arizona State captured its first ever conference title in 2023. Cal took home six individual events. Reece Whitley was the highlight of the week, capturing his fourth consecutive Pac-12 championship in the 100-breast, becoming just the third men's swimmer to ever win four straight breaststroke titles at the Pac-12 Championships and just the 14th to pull of the feat in any event.

TOP-10 TIMES
The Bears still boast impressive depth entering this weekend's championships. Cal has seven swimmers who boast top-10 times in the conference in seven different events. Jack Meehan has the sixth-fastest time in the 1650 and 10th-fastest 500 freestyle time. Tyler Kopp has the seventh-fastest time in both the 1650 free and 400 individual medley. Kai Crews has the 10-fastest time in the 100 backstroke. The Bears have impressive depth in the breaststroke events, with Liam Bell and Jacob Soderlund having top-10 times in both the 100 and 200. Colby Mefford and Ziyad Saleem are seventh and eighth respectively in the 200 backstroke.
