FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – California senior Björn Seeliger was named the 2024 Pac-12 Men's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Friday, the conference office announced at its championship meet.

A three-time national champion and scholar All-American, Seeliger has defined success as a student-athlete throughout his four-year collegiate career with the Golden Bears. Seeliger has earned 19 CSCAA All-America honors through his first three seasons and is a 12-time Pac-12 champion, having won four individual titles and eight relay events while serving as a critical piece of Cal's back-to-back national championships in 2022 and 2023.

One of the fastest sprinters in program history, Seeliger owns the Cal record in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle. He owns the third-fastest 100-yard backstroke time in program history and is a member of 15 of the fastest relay times in program history – including the program record in the 200 free, 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relays.

The Södertälje, Sweden, native is a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American and a CSC Academic All-American. He has been selected to the Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll twice so far during his time at Cal. As a business administration major, Seeliger boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.75. Seeliger becomes the fourth Bear to win this award. Previous winners include Nathan Adrian (2011), Ryan Murphy (2017), and Reece Whitley (2022).

To be eligible for the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, a student-athlete must be a senior or graduate student in his final year of eligibility, have spent at least one year in residence at his institution and have maintained a 3.00 grade point average or higher.
