Women’s Rowing Alum Kara Kohler Qualifies For Paris Olympics

Kohler Qualified In Single Sculls

BERKELEY – Former California women's rowing alum Kara Kohler '14 has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics after winning the finals of the women's single sculls at the U.S. Olympics Trials in Sarasota, Florida Sunday afternoon. Rowing out of the USRowing Training Center – Princeton, Kohler finished today's final in a time of 8:04.01 after winning all her previous heats over the course of the U.S. Olympics Trials this week.
 
This will mark Kohler's third Olympics appearance. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics she competed in the women's single sculls and placed third in the B final and in the 2012 London Olympics, Kohler won the bronze medal in the women's quadruple sculls.
 
After the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Kohler continued to race at the international level having won a bronze medal in the women's double sculls at the 2022 World Rowing Cup II and a bronze medal in the women's single sculls at the 2023 World Rowing Cup II.
 
After swimming throughout her high school career, Kohler joined the Golden Bears rowing team as a walk on in 2010 without having rowed previously and found immediate success earning the Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year Award that same season before leading the Bears' varsity eight to an NCAA Championship in 2013. Kohler was named an All-American each of her four years at Cal.
