Oeding Won Gold As Team USA Assistant In 2016 And 2021

A three-time national champion with the California men's water polo team, Chris Oeding is headed to Paris this summer for his third straight Olympics as an assistant coach for the Team USA Women's Senior National Team.

After joining the Team USA coaching staff in May of 2013, Oeding won gold at both the 2016 and 2021 Olympic games. He was named to the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame Class of 2024 in March.

During his seven-year run as a player with the U.S. men's national team, Oeding was a two-time Olympian and captained Team USA at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. He also won World Cup Gold in 1997.

Oeding won three consecutive national championships with the Golden Bears from 1990-92, being named the NCAA's Player of the Year in 1992. In addition to serving as the longtime head coach of the men's and women's water polo teams at Long Beach City College – a role which has seen him win six state championships since 2000 – he is also the head coach of the school's swimming and diving teams.
