Following a freshman season that saw her post personal bests of 59.32m (194-7) in the hammer throw and 19.50m (63-11) in the weight throw, the latter of which ranks No. 5 in program history, rising California track & field sophomore Adrianna Coleman will step into the ring at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, on Wednesday at the USA Track & Field (USATF) U20 Outdoor Championships to compete in the hammer for the second straight year. The event is currently scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. PT.; should Coleman place in the top two, she will earn a spot on Team USA at the upcoming World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru, on Aug. 26-31.

Coleman, who was the top freshman finisher in the hammer at this year's Pac-12 Championships, is ranked as the No. 2 entry at the U20 Championships, second only to USC's Jenna Gallaway and her qualifying mark of 59.99m (196-10). Cal's women's hammer squad finished the year with a national No. 5 ranking from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), with Coleman herself as the 10th-ranked freshman in the nation.

At the 2023 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships, Coleman finished third behind Giavonna Meeks and Skylar Soli, both of whom have aged out of consideration for the meet. Meeks is a rising junior at Vanderbilt, while Soli just completed her first season at Ole Miss.
