Former Golden Bear To Play In Sweden’s Top Basketball League

BERKELEY – Former California men's basketball guard Keonte Kennedy signed a professional contract with Umea BSKT of the Swedish Basketball League (SBL). The SBL is regarded as Sweden's premier basketball league. Kennedy will start his pro career this fall.
 
Kennedy started all 25 games played and averaged 31.1 minutes in his lone season as a Golden Bear in 2023-24. He led the team with a career-high 38 steals and averaged 9.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. After missing the first seven games of the season with a hand injury, Kennedy exploded onto the scene with a season-high 20 points at Butler in just his second contest played.
 
Kennedy tallied 13 double-figure scoring performances, including four of the final seven games of the season. He also shot better than 42% from 3-point range across the final eight games of the season, helping Cal to a 10-win improvement from the previous year and its best finish in the Pac-12 Conference since 2016-17.
 
The Austin, Texas, product also played for Xavier (2018-19), UTEP (2019-22) and Memphis (2022-23) throughout his collegiate career.
