Cal Beach Volleyball Unveils 2025 Schedule
Bears Set For Inaugural MPSF Season
BERKELEY – The California beach volleyball team has announced its 2025 schedule, which includes eight home matches at the Clark Kerr Sand Courts as the Golden Bears enter their inaugural Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) season.
The MPSF features six former Pac-12 institutions in Cal, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Washington, and one new conference opponent in Grand Canyon. Six of the seven MPSF programs ended 2024 in the top 20 and four landed in the top seven.
"While we loved being a part of the Pac-12, we are excited to embark on our inaugural MPSF season," head coach
Meagan Owusu said. "We are grateful that we get to play in such a competitive conference and compete against many of the same schools that we have played against historically.."
Cal kicks off the season down in Malibu for the Pepperdine Challenge on Feb. 21, the first of eight four-match weekends in the regular season. The Bears will play a quartet of matches for five weekends in a row, followed by a week off in late March during Spring Break, before returning to play every weekend through the end of April.
The first of two weekends at Clark Kerr is the inaugural Battle of the Bay, which is scheduled for the second week of the season, Feb. 28-Mar. 1. Cal is one of three host sites in the tournament, joining Stanford and San Jose State. The second and final home event for the Bears is Senior Weekend on Apr. 4-5.
Owusu and the Bears, who have become one of the prominent programs in the sport, did not shy away from strong competition, scheduling 12 of their 32 matches against NCAA Championship teams from last season. Four of those matches come against Final Four teams in USC, UCLA, and LSU.
"We have a great schedule this year," Owusu said. "We consistently play ranked programs, so every weekend will be a challenge. I am excited for a jam-packed schedule."
The inaugural MPSF Championship is set for April 23-25 in Huntington Beach, the site of the NCAA Championship that takes place the following weekend May 2-5.
