Bears Sign Pair Of Accomplished Recruits

2 Top-50 Prospects To Join Cal Next Fall

Two prospects with championship pedigrees who are ranked among Golfweek's top-50 recruits in the country have joined the Cal women's golf program, head coach Sofie Aagaard announced Wednesday.

Giselle Zhao of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, and Zoe Jiamanukookit of San Diego signed with the Golden Bears and will join the team for the 2026-27 season.

Zhao, who is Golfweek's No. 24 recruit nationally, has won a pair of French national championships and was the 2024 junior golfer of the year. She has spent time ranked in the top 10 in both the French women's rankings and has been as high as No. 3 in Europe's Under-18 rankings as well.

"Giselle's strong competitive record with low-scoring rounds in tough international tournaments shows a confident and mature golfer with aspirations beyond college golf," Aagaard said. "Her hard work, grit and determination contribute to her consistent performances at every level. Giselle's academics match her golf performance, with a standard of excellence in everything she does as a student-athlete. We are excited to welcome Giselle and her family to join us all the way from France."

Jiamanukookit has twice been named the CIF San Diego Section Girls Golf Player of the Year and is a two-time selection to the All-CIF San Diego Section Girls Golf First Team. She has led Torrey Pines High School to the CIF state championship and won the 2025 San Diego Section individual championship last week.

"Zoe's love for the game shows in her joy for competition and disciplined competitive energy when the stakes are high," Aagaard said. "Her ability to stay calm and collected in competition serves her well. Zoe matches her work ethic academically and will be a great Golden Bear, balancing the best of both worlds here at Cal."

The Bears are currently in between the fall and spring seasons for the 2025-26 year and resume play in early February.
