Cal Matches All-Time High In Graduation Success Rate
Golden Bear Student-Athletes Hit 93% For Second Straight Year
BERKELEY – Cal Athletics matched its all-time high with a 93% Graduation Success Rate, according to annual data that was announced by the NCAA on Wednesday.
Golden Bear student-athletes tied the department benchmark that was set last year.
"We couldn't be more proud of our student-athletes, who continue to demonstrate their commitment to their academic journey at Cal," Cal Co-Directors of Athletics
Jenny Simon-O'Neill and
Jay Larson said. "These results are not only a reflection of the dedication and hard work they put into their academic pursuits, but also the support they receive from our Athletic Study Center and the entire Cal village."
Nine Cal athletic programs registered a perfect GSR score of 100%, which also matches the department's all-time best. Golden Bear student-athletes also made up 18 programs with at least a 90% mark, another benchmark that has been reached multiple times.
The nine programs to record a perfect 100% GSR are the following:
- Volleyball (14th straight year)
- Women's Tennis (13th straight year)
- Men's Tennis (10th straight year)

- Lacrosse (3rd straight year)
- Men's Gymnastics (3rd straight year)

- Men's Golf (92%)

Â
Cal's football program recorded a rate of 85% for the second straight year – one percentage point shy of its all-time high.
The GSR is based on a six-year cohort, meaning that the latest report includes those student-athletes who received athletic scholarships, enrolled at Cal as freshmen or incoming transfers from 2015-18, and completed their degrees within six years.
