Pretre To Open Cal’s Indoor Season In Boston
Junior Distance Runner Owns 3 Indoor Program Top-10 Times

Justin Pretre will kick off the Golden Bears' 2025-26 season Saturday at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, hosted by Boston University at its Track & Tennis Center. The Golden Bears' top distance star will race in the 3000m Open section against 155 other entries, with the event scheduled to begin at 10:40 a.m. PT/1:40 p.m. ET.
The meet will be streamed on

Lancer Timing.
Pretre is coming off a cross country season in which he was named the ACC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week after taking first in the 8k for his second straight meet with a PR of 23:14.3 at the Kim Duyst Twillight Invitational. He also lowered his 10k PR to 30:36.5 at the NCAA West Regionals in November.
In his collegiate track & field career, Pretre has earned spots on four of Cal's top-10 lists, including No. 4 rankings in the indoor mile (3:59.34), the indoor 3000m (7:53.44) and the distance medley relay (9:32.81); he is also ranked eighth on the program's 1500m list with a best time of 3:42.72. After his freshman season, Pretre competed at the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships, representing Canada after winning its U20 1500m championship title with a time of 3:53.89.
