No. 6 Bears Well-Represented In A-Finals At ACC Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 6 California women's swimming & diving team had an A-finalist in every event Thursday and stands in fourth place after the third day of the 2025 ACC Championship at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Senior Leah Polonsky reached the podium for the second straight night after placing second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.98. She was one of three point-scorers in the event for the Golden Bears as sophomore Ava Chavez (13th, 1:44.93) and freshman Mia West (14th, 1:45.17) each advanced to the B-final.

Polonsky placed third in the 200 individual medley on Wednesday.

Sophomore Kathryn Hazle finished sixth in the 400 individual medley with a personal-best time of 4:07.63 while graduate student Lilou Ressencourt placed eighth in the 100 butterfly with a mark of 51.57. Seniors McKenna Stone (15th, 52.10) and Morgan Brophy (19th, 52.15) also scored points for the Bears in the 100 fly.

Four-time defending NCAA champion Virginia (744.5 points) has a firm advantage over Stanford (684) in the team standings while Louisville is in third place (575). Cal has 431.5 points.

Friday's schedule includes the 200 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and the 400 medley relay. The Bears have two of the top five seeds in the 100 back with No. 3 Mary-Ambre Moluh and No. 5 Isabelle Stadden.
