Seth Johnson Takes Heptathlon Title
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The California track & field team closed out its weekend with yet another standout showing on Saturday, notching four program top-five performances and two additional top-10 marks at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
Junior
Seth Johnson took home his first victory in the heptathlon with an outstanding total of 5800, third-best in program history, after posting sizeable personal bests to claim at least a share of the win in both the 60m hurdles (8.07) and the pole vault (4.60m/15-1). Including Friday's results, he matched or bettered a PR in six of seven events, claiming wins in four of those.
The men's triple jump featured a huge personal best courtesy of sophomore
Jeremiah Bolaños, whose leap of 15.21m (49-11) increased his PR by eight-and-a-half inches and marked the ACC's best jump of the week. Redshirt junior
Tyler Burns claimed second place in Section A of the men's pole vault with a mark of 5.36m (17-7).
On the track, senior
Aysha Shaheed bettered her 60m PR to 7.33 for the fastest time of the weekend by an ACC woman, moving into a tie for second-best in program history, while freshman
Paige Porter (7.61) and sophomore
Mari Testa (7.70) also recorded personal bests in the event. Testa, along with senior
Asjah Atkinson, additionally made waves in the 60m hurdles, lowering their respective personal bests to 8.31 and 8.33 for the fourth- and seventh-best times in program history. On the men's side,
Johnny Goode ran the fastest 400m by any ACC man this weekend with a time of 46.38.
The women also performed well in the field events. In the shot put, redshirt senior

Lucija Leko and redshirt sophomore
