WEYMOUTH, Mass. – The 10th-ranked California men's tennis team captured its eighth consecutive victory – including its fourth straight on the road – in a 7-0 rout of Boston College on Friday at the Weymouth Club. Senior Derrick Chen clinched with a 6-3, 6-3 result over Jake Vassel at court-four singles.
 
The Golden Bears, who have also won seven straight conference matches, improved their overall record to 15-2 (7-2 ACC). Their only losses – and only conference losses – have come against top-ranked Wake Forest and then-No. 10 NC State, which is now ranked sixth.
 
Boston College fell to 4-10 (0-9).
 
The race for the doubles point began with a Cal win on court three, as the pair of Mikey Wright and Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski bested Aidan Pack and Matthew Overvelde 6-1. 2. The Eagles evened the tally on court two, where Cal's Alex Chang and Alex Aney dropped a 7-5 result to Vassel and Andrew Ilie. In another tight match on court one, Chen and Theo Dean held off Caleb Saltz and Liam O'Leary 7-5 to give the Bears the point.
 
Cal rolled through three straight-set victories in singles to secure the win over Boston College. Timofey Stepanov quickly topped Mai Gao 6-0, 6-1 and Lechno-Wasiutynski beat Pack 6-2, 6-2 to set up Chen to earn the clincher over Vassel. With Cal ahead 4-0, the Bears also claimed wins from ninth-ranked Carl Emil Overbeck, Aney and 68th-ranked Chang to close out the match.
 
Cal plays at No. 61 SMU on Sunday to conclude its road trip.
