Lauzon, Williams Named WCGA All-Americans

Cal Seniors Haul In 6 Total Honors

BERKELEY – California women's gymnasts Mya Lauzon and Maddie Williams were named WCGA All-Americans, the organization announced Monday.

WCGA (Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association) All-America selections are determined purely by National Qualifying Scores (NQS). First Team honors are awarded to the top eight finishers, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four events plus the all-around. Second Team honors are awarded to the ninth through sixteenth place finishers, plus ties.

Lauzon was named a First Team All-American in the all-around and floor exercise, while earning second-team accolades for the balance beam and uneven bars. The seventh-ranked all-arounder in the country now has 10 regular season All-America selections including three for beam and two for floor. Lauzon, who was named ACC Gymnast of the Year at the conference championships, has an NQS of 9.92 or higher on three events she was honored for.

Williams took home first-team honors on bars for a third straight year, as she currently ranks fourth in the nation with a 9.945 NQS. She is the highest ranked ACC gymnast in any single event. It is the first time in Williams' career that she has earned multiple regular season honors, having also been named a Second Team All-American in the all-around.

Both seniors had successful outings at the ACC Championships with Lauzon winning a share of the all-around, beam, and floor titles, and Williams sharing the gold medal with her on floor.

No. 6 Cal has its sights set on the Tuscaloosa Regional, which begins Friday at 11 a.m. PT.
