Strong Second Round Puts Bears In Sixth At The Tindall

Cal Shoots 10-Under Par Before Play Suspended Due To Darkness

BREMERTON, Wash. – The California men's golf team carded the best score of the second round Monday with three players still out on the course before play was suspended due to darkness and the Golden Bears stand in sixth place heading into the final day of The Tindall at Gold Mountain Golf Club.

Cal is at a blistering 10-under par through 14 holes of the second round and stands at  9-under par overall, just four shots out of third. Ziqin Zhou, one of the players who wasn't able to complete the second round Monday, is in a tie for sixth place individually at 6-under par for the tournament. Sihao Cong is in eighth at 5-under after 16 holes of the second round.

Zhou sunk five birdies in round one and five more in round two with four more holes to play. He enters enter Tuesday's completion of the second round four strokes behind clubhouse leader Gabriel Palacios (-10) of Utah.

Cong amassed 8 birdies before he had to stop at the 17th hole in round two. Playing as an individual in his Cal debut, freshman Xihuan Chang was able to complete all 36 holes and shot 4-under par with nine birdies and is tied for 10th place. 

BYU leads the event after two rounds at 24-under par.

Zhou, Cong and Charlie Berridge will tee off at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday to complete the second round before the third round gets going at 8:55 a.m.
