No. 6 Cal Moves Into First On Day 4 Of ACC Championships

The Bears’ 200 Free Relay Took Home Silver.

ATLANTA – The California men's swimming and diving team closed out day four in first place at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

 

The Bears, who entered the day in second place, have totaled 459 total points and lead second place Stanford by 17 points.

 

Martin Wrede finished 4th in the 50 free with the seventh-fastest time in program history – 18.81. Lucca Battaglini finished in 8th with a 19.10 time.


Cal went 3-4-5 in the 500 free with all swimmers finishing inside the top-10 times in school history. Ryan Erisman placed third (4:11.59), Eduardo Moraes placed fourth (4:11.96), and Nathan Wiffen rounded out the top-5 (4:12.57).

 

The Bears' 200 free relay team of Wrede, Battaglini, Petty, and Puggaard finished second with the seventh-fastest time ever in program history at 1:14.81.

 

Day five of the ACC Championships continues tomorrow with the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, and 400 IM. Prelims begin at 6:57 a.m. PT and finals start at 2:54 p.m. PT on ACCNX.
