Weinstein Earns First Individual Podium
ATLANTA – The No. 5 California women's swimming & diving ended Thursday in third place at the ACC Championships at McAuley Aquatics Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
After five days of competition the Golden Bears, who ended day four in second place, remain on the podium with 621 points and trail only Virginia (786) and Stanford (662).
Cal had a quieter morning in the prelim round today sending four Bears to A finals across the three events to go with five B final competitors. Cal got production from several individuals as nine different Bears made this evening's nine finalists, six of which were underclassmen.
The evening session began with the 400-yard IM and it was
Teagan O'Dell, who finished fourth in the 200 IM A final yesterday, leading the way for the Bears. The freshman shaved 3.55 seconds off her best NCAA performance and posted the fifth fastest time in Cal history, touching the wall at 4:04.39 to take sixth place. Sophomore
Mia West (4:05.10) finished just behind her in eighth.
After posting the ninth-fastest 100 butterfly time in program history of 51.11 in the preliminary round, freshman
Annie Jia took it up notch and recorded the eighth-best time with a 50.83 to place sixth.
Freshman sensation
