Cal Posts Season Highs On Floor, Bars To Seal Victory

SACRAMENTO – No. 16 California women's gymnastics (12-4, 4-1 ACC) notched a 196.875 with season bests on uneven bars (49.550) and floor exercise (49.400) to claim victory at the Sacramento State Tri Meet versus the host-team Hornets (194.900) and San Jose State (196.000) on Friday night. Tonya Paulsson posted a personal-best 39.500 in the all-around to win the gold, sealed by her career-high tying 9.950 bars routine.

Annalise Newman-Achee kicked off her impressive night with a 9.950 on beam, with one judge awarding her a 10.000, to help the junior notch her personal best and win the event. Paulsson recorded a 9.850 to help Cal score a 48.900 on beam and lead the meet after the end of the first rotation.

The Bears began to pick up momentum in the second rotation on floor, seeing Casey Brown record her career high (9.850) and CJ Keuneke receive her second 9.900 in as many meets, which matches her personal best and was good for silver on the event. Paulsson anchored with a career-high 9.925 to win the gold on the event and lift Cal to its highest floor score of the season and retain the lead over the Hornets and the Spartans.

Mya Wiley stuck her vault from the anchor position in the third rotation, notching a season-best 9.825. Jayden Silvers and Kyen Mayhew each posted the same score as Wiley to earn the trio a tie for third place on the event and help the Bears compile a 49.025 overall. Cal held onto the lead as the fourth rotation commenced.

The Bears put up their strongest showing on bars this season to cap the evening, with all six gymnasts sticking their routines. Miki Aderinto set the tone for the rest of the lineup, performing a career-high 9.925 from the leadoff spot. Newman-Achee set a new season best with a 9.925 to tie with Aderinto for silver on the event, before Paulsson anchored with her second 9.950 routine of the 2026 season. The freshman ties for third on Cal's all-time program-bests list in the event.

Cal now returns to Berkeley for a three-meet homestand to close out the regular season. The Bears will host Boise State on March 7 at 4 p.m. PT in Haas Pavilion for a Gold Out/Alumni Meet.
