Bears Win Cal Quad Meet On Senior Day
Cal Hits Third-Straight Score Higher Than 197
BERKELEY – No. 16 California women's gymnastics compiled a 197.175 on Senior Day in Berkeley, marking the third-straight meet that the Golden Bears have earned an overall score of 197 or higher. Cal outscored Washington (196.575), Pennsylvania (195.900) and UC Davis (191.175) to win the Cal Quad Meet on Sunday afternoon in Haas Pavilion.

Cal got off to a slow start on vault putting together a 48.825.
Annalise Newman-Achee and
Kyen Mayhew each notched a 9.875 to come in as the Bears' top two scores on the event and tie for gold on the event. The Bears were in third place at the end of the first rotation.

The Bears bounced back big in the second rotation, putting up their best event score of the day with a 49.475 on uneven bars.
Miki Aderinto stuck her landing to earn a 9.900 from the leadoff position. Newman-Achee and Melkonian each matched Aderinto's score to see the trio share second place on the event.
Tonya Paulsson anchored the Bears' rotation with a 9.925 to win the event title. The Bears moved into second place at the midway point of the competition.

Cal had its strongest balance beam rotation of the season in the third event, putting together a 49.425 as a team. Paulsson notched her personal best with a 9.900 before Aderinto continued her stellar Senior Day with a career-high tying 9.900. Newman-Achee anchored with a 9.925 to close out the rotation, which was good for a share of second place on the event. Cal and Washington were tied for first place heading into the final rotation.

Jayden Silvers and
Casey Brown each performed career highs on floor, earning a 9.900 and 9.875, respectively, on their Senior Day. Paulsson stepped into the anchor position and earned a personal-best 9.950 to help the Bears clinch a 49.450 and the quad meet victory.
Newman-Achee took gold in the all-around with a 39.550, her best all-around score of the season.

Cal closes the regular season with a 16-5 overall record. The Bears will now turn their focus to the postseason, which begins next weekend at the ACC Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
