WEYMOUTH, Mass. – Johanne Svendsen won in straight sets to remain unbeaten in singles and clinch the 16th-ranked California women's tennis team's 4-0 victory over Boston College on Friday at the Weymouth Club.
 
The Golden Bears' record improved to 7-3 (4-1 ACC), while the Eagles fell to 8-7 (0-5 ACC)
 
Svendsen also prevailed in doubles, as the 65th-ranked pair of Svendsen and Mao Mushika defeated Natalie Eordekian and Seren Agar 6-4 on Court 1. The duo of Berta Passola Folch and Sophie Hernandez followed with a 6-4 victory over Olivia Benton and Leyden Games on Court 2 to clinch the doubles point.
 
Freshman Laura Cilekova opened singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Games on Court 4 to give the Bears a 2-0 lead. Mushika — ranked 82nd — then beat Eordekian 6-2, 6-2 on Court 3 to hand Cal a 3-0 advantage, before 16th-ranked Svendsen bested Benton 6-3, 6-4 on Court 1 to end the match.
 
With Friday's wins, Svendsen — a freshman who joined Cal in January — has a 6-0 record in singles and 5-1 mark in doubles. She has also clinched three Cal victories, including a 4-3 win over UCLA and 4-1 triumph over Clemson.
 
Cal continues its conference schedule when it plays at Syracuse on Sunday at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET.
